Tucker:The Man and His Dream

If your a car nut and enjoy a good movie, and if you still haven't seen it Tucker:The Man and His Dream, is a great one to watch.

The movie is about the life of Preston Tucker, and a dream to build an automobile that was way ahead of it's time that the average person could afford. The cars were to be built with features such as a rear engine, disk brakes,a water cooled aluminum block, seat belts, and a third headlight that turned in the direction of the car enabling you to see better at night.

This movie really hits on ideas and inventions that came from Mr. Tucker. The demise of the company was reached when the Tucker corporation started taking preorders for accessories and vehicles to be built, which is common practice among manufacturers today.

TV Tommy IVO's Four Engine Dragster

This was the car that hooked me on racing. I remembered my father coming home one night from the auto body shop and saying to me "Let's go to the dragstrip, the four engine dragster is up". I was about 7 years old and the wheel standers and jet cars were also running that night. So may dad loaded me up is the car and off to the track we went.

Back in those days (this was the late 70's)it was a night of watching Shirley Muldowney,Don Garlets,Bill Mavericks "Little Red Wagon", the Blue Max funny car, Jungle Jim and countless others run that night. When the  four engine dragster came up to the line and the tree counted down this thing was a quarter mile of tire frying smoke for 1320 feet. It was loud and it was awesome. As a 7 year old kid it was one of the coolest things I'd ever seen.

Howe & Howe Tech on the History Channel

I got hooked on this show last year. If your a gear head that likes to fabricate stuff up,man is this the show for you. Mike and Geoffrey  Howe can really make some cool stuff. They seem to fabricate everything from swamp buggies to all terrain combat vehicles for the military.

On this weeks episode they had to test out the tank tracks being used for the military by trying out multiple types of bombs that the enemy uses against out troops. They used some pretty heavy explosives against their product, and nothing seemed to immobilize the tank tracks that they have invented. It was pretty impressive.

The show is on Monday nights at 10:00 on the History Channel.

Ford Raptor on Top Gear

I never really understood the hype about this truck until last night when I watched the Top Gear episode featuring the Ford Raptor.

All I have to say is this truck is unbelievable. Ford did an excellent job on this truck, it was pretty cool to see it transition from pavement to off road duty. I can't help but applaud Ford at the engineering that went behind this truck.

From Tanner flying this truck 5' through air to the Stig pushing it's limits around a road coarse build for exotic cars, this truck just performed all around.

2010 was a great season for NASCAR

I've been a race fan since 1989 and the 2010 season for NASCAR was one of the best and most competitive that I can remember.

The double file restarts have really lit up some of the smaller tracks.I've been attending both races at Louden Speedway for almost 10 years now,and the double file restarts have really brought that track to life.

This years championship battle was down to the wire, with Jimmie Johnson clinching his 5th straight championship the Homestead race became a nail biter.

I really can't wait for February 2011 to see how the cars get around on the newly paved Daytona Speedway, and to see how Hendrick Motorsports does through out the year.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. said he was pretty anxious to go racing with his new crew chief to see if they can start winning some races again.

The Nurburgring in Germany is a must do

When it comes to going fast and driving through twisty curves Germany seems to have it covered. Besides being able to travel at warp speed down the autobahn there's a really cool place to play in the mountains called the Nurburgring.

The Nurburgring is a 14 mile race track with 73 turns that twists it's way through the Eifel mountain range in Germany. It's so big it can be raining in one section and sunny in the next. Anyone with a car or motorcycle can drive the ring for a fee, there is no speed limit but if you crash you may be fined buy the German police and have to pay for any repairs to the guard rails along the coarse because it's considered a public road.

All I want for Christmas is a Challenger SRT-8

As most of you know I'm a guy that's been into Mustangs forever, however with the pony wars alive and well,Dodge hit the nail on the head with the Challenger SRT-8.The lines on this car are awesome. When you see it in a parking lot it brings you back to the 70s and then fast forwards you to the present day.

For 2011 the Dodge Challenger SRT-8 is said to boast 475 horsepower and 460 lb-ft.of torque, thanks to the new 6.4 liter Hemi, and is rumored break 0-60 in the three second range. This coupled with todays technology is pretty cool in my book.

Top Gear On The History Channel

I started from day one watching the US version of TOP GEAR and my take on the show is that it's definitely going to progress, and get more interesting as each week passes.

This week is episode three "The Moonshine Challenge". Adam, Rutledge and Tanner are going to have $1000.00 to buy a car with in which they're going to have to go through various challenges in moonshine country (AKA North Carolina).

Can't wait to tune in,since this one's right up my alley.
